Aharon
Sternberg, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Sternberg is
a recognized authority of vision afflictions with
extensive experience in a side range of ocular
maladies. Dr. Sternberg moved to Alaska in 1976 and
has been treating and correcting vision problems
for over twenty-five years at Ophthalmic Associates
in Anchorage.
Born and raised
in Haifa, Israel, Dr. Sternberg served in the
Israeli Defense Army and arrived in the United
States in 1967 after the "Six Day War." Dr.
Sternberg graduated form Louisiana College with a
degree in Chemistry before beginning his education
in optometry. In 1974, he received his bachelors of
Science degree in Physiological Optics and
Psychophysics and later a Doctorate of Optometry
from the University of Alabama in
Birmingham.
Actively
participating in several research projects while an
undergraduate and during his course of study to
become an optometrist, Dr. Sternberg had the good
fortune to participate in studies that provided
extensive experience in recognizing and correcting
vision problems. He was involved with studies
related to the retinopathy of prematurity and later
was appointed to the position of coordinator for
the Diabetic Retinopathy Laser study at John
Hopkins University and the Medical School between
1969 and 1971.
A Fellow of the
American Academy of Optometry, Dr. Sternberg is an
active member of both the American and Alaskan
Optometric Association. Until recently, Dr.
Sternberg was the Chairman of the Alaska Board of
Examiners in Optometry.
