If you think you are rapidly or dramatically losing your eyesight, contact the hospital emergency promptly! Chemical Splash or Burn: Rinse with LOTS of water or bland fluid- 10-15 minutes, then contact EMERGENCY Direct Blow to Eye: Check for fluid or blood leaking-dab gently. CHECK VISION (below). Blood may clear in 1-2 Hours. Puncture of Eye: Do NOT pull object out! dab fluid gently. Check VISION... Immobilize object with paper cup then to Emergency.  
 
 
 
 
 
  Flashes and Floaters: might be Retinal Detachment. Check Vision (below) especially Peripheral. If "curtain" in part, to Emergency. Painful Red Eye: Rinse if particle or splash in eye. Check Vision (below). Go to Emergency. Rapid swelling around the eye: Check Vision (below). Observe in mirror. Does eye Move or bulge? Allergy needing medication? CHECK VISION: cover other eye. Can you detect light? Colors? Movement of hand in front of your face? Count fingers in front of face? Count fingers in entire peripheral vision- to left -to right - up and down? Can you read print?
