Arnolds Dr. Arnold and wife Koni Andrew and Elle.
 

Robert W. Arnold is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.

In 1976, Arnold moved from Belingham, Washington to commercial fish in Cook Inlet and attend University of Alaska- Fairbanks. He was on the cross country running and ski teams. In 1984 he received an M.D. from Yale and then completed ophthalmology residence at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He finished a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Indiana Univsersity before joining Ophthalmic Associates in 1989. Dr. Arnold consults and does surgery at Providence, Alaska Regional and ANMC and conducts regional clinics in Wasilla, Kodiak and in Koyukon Villages. Dr. Arnold served ten years as Eye Section Chief at Providence and he coordinates the Alaska Summer Ophthalmology Program.

Dr. Arnold has research interests in amblyopia, strabismus surgery, anesthesia safety, OCR, ROP and ophthalmic instruments. He is Chief Concept Designer for Glacier Medical Software which has produced "ROP-Check" software to monitor premature infant retinal disease. With orthoptist Diane Armitage and capable research students, Arnold coordinates the Alaska Blind Child Discovery Project. He has served as Chair of the Vision Screen Committee at AAPOS and is on the editorial board of two journals. Curriculum vitae.

With wife Koni and children Andrew and Elle, Arnold enjoys hiking, skiing and hunting as well as art, Bible Study and medical missions.
